Why Soli needs an EIN
Phone carriers require every business that sends texts to register, and the registration is tied to an Employer Identification Number. Soli uses your EIN to register your texting, to confirm your practice is a real business before it gets a phone number, and on your invoices. We don’t ask for your NPI.
Any business type works
You don’t need an LLC or a corporation. A sole proprietor with an EIN is fine.
Been using your Social Security number for your practice? An EIN also keeps it off forms and invoices.
Step 1: Apply on the IRS website
Go to irs.gov/ein, or search for “Apply for an EIN online”.
Applying with the IRS is free. Some websites charge a fee to apply for you; you don’t need them.
Step 2: Answer the questions
Choose the business type that matches your practice and answer the questions.
Step 3: Save your confirmation letter
Save the letter the IRS gives you at the end. It shows your EIN and your legal business name.

Use the exact legal name
When you sign up for Soli, enter your practice’s legal name and address exactly as they appear on your IRS letter. Carriers check the match, and a different spelling can delay your texting.
